The video above is the first amateur MMA fight in the careers of Justin Kristie and David Baxter. Fast forward to the end of the first round when Kristie locks Baxter in a triangle choke. Baxter goes limp as the round ends and seems to have a seizure on the mat. Somehow, the ringside doctors and ref allow the fight to continue into the second round.

Baxter actually went on to win the fight in the second round, but the fact that he was allowed to continue was astonishing.

The surfacing of this video coupled with news today that an amateur Georgia based MMA fighter died after injuries suffered inside the cage shows that fighter safety is something that still needs to be at the forefront when discussing the sport.
