Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir – who benefits from this match-up?

So Daniel Cormier‘s final fight in Strikeforce has finally been announced, and it will be Frank Mir moving over from the UFC to face off against the grand-prix champion on a card in October or November that is unconfirmed at this point.

Overall, I think it is a positive move, with almost all parties involved able to gain something from this situation.

DC gets to fight a proper, legitimate top-tier heavyweight. Frank Mir has been fighting top competition consistently for the last few years, and unlike Tim Sylvia (who was originally mooted to face DC) he has not been knocked out by the likes of Ray Mercer and Abe Wagner on the regional circuit. sure he is coming off a loss, but it was against the best guy in the world.
