Recently, news broke that Erik Koch was out of his UFC featherweight title match against Jose Aldo. As is often the case in the UFC, Koch has been replaced by a tougher opponent, as his replacement is none other than former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. I speculated before that Edgar would get one fight at featherweight before getting a title shot, and I believe that would have been the case if Koch hadn’t been injured. With Koch injured, Edgar is the obvious choice as a replacement. The featherweight division is sorely lacking for compelling challengers; Edgar makes for the best fight, and the most intriguing fight, in my opinion.
Now, Edgar has a good wrestling base, but by now, it should be obvious that takedowns are not the way to beat Jose Aldo. A look at Aldo’s profile on Fight Metric displays the utter futility of trying to…

When I stepped into the octagon for the first time I already knew that I had won. I was surrounded by family and friends that had been in my life for a long time. From my immediate family to all my cousins that might as well be immediate family too. These are the same people that are there today. But along the way I have gained support from some amazing people. Every time I log onto facebook or twitter I can’t believe the amount of good luck messages I get. No matter how tired I am from training, when I get home I always check them out and try to respond to everyone.
To my family and friends, to my teammates and coaches at Strong Style, to sponsors that are helping me realize my dreams, I really just want to say thanks. I’m truly living the dream, and I try…

Jon Jones reportedly asked Dana White to tell Chael Sonnen to stop calling him out
Posted: September 4, 2012 in Uncategorizedmmaresults.wordpress.com
Before UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones turned down a fight with Chael Sonnen, the two engaged in a war of words. Sonnen called Jones out, Jones responded with, “If you’re going to disrespect me out of nowhere, at least disrespect me to my face like a man. And you call me a punk, I’m more man than you’ll ever be,” and then Jones said he knew what he was doing all along.
Except, there are reports now that Jones was bothered by Sonnen not only calling out Jones here, but in the many things Sonnen said after Jones turned down their fights. He even reportedly asked UFC president Dana White to tell Sonnen to stop.
This isn’t the first time Jones has been oddly bothered by what people have to say about him. After beating Quinton Jackson at UFC 135, the UFC brought Rashad Evans into the cage for…

Frankie Edgar Moving to Featherweight, Agrees to Fight Jose Aldo at UFC 153 with Koch Injured
Posted: September 4, 2012 in Uncategorizedmmaresults.wordpress.com
The injury bug takes no prisoners.
UFC 153 took the hit on Thursday when Erik Koch fell out of his main event challenge of UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo due to an undisclosed injury.
While many events take a pretty big hit when a main eventer drops out – UFC 151 was recently cancelled due to just such a scenario – sometimes things work out for the better.
Koch, a worthy contender, carried little name value into the match-up with Aldo, but the UFC brass has already replaced him with former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. Edgar’s manager, Ali Abdel-Aziz of Dominance MMA, confirmed the news to MMAWeekly.com.
Edgar recently announced that he was dropping down to the 145-pound division, but expected that he would have to fight at least once or twice before getting a shot at the champ.
When the UFC comes calling with a title shot…
